With the re-release of Tearaway (PS Vita) on the PS4 coming in less than a week, I felt the need to look through my old pictures stored on my Vita from the game.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Tearaway, know that the game is SO GOOD. It’s a little platforming adventure that revolves around papercraft, and the game is overflowing–breaking at the seams–with originality and creativity. You spend part of the game exploring the world, part of it interacting with the Vita’s unique inputs–touch, cameras, microphone–to literally insert yourself into the world of the game, and lastly you spend time creating your own in-game papercraft designs to add to the characters you encounter.
It’s been a while since I played it, so I won’t write a full review for the game (and you can find glowing reviews for it anywhere on the internet). Instead, I’ll just share my own gallery of pictures from the adventures I took with atoi :).
Honestly, I can’t imagine this being reworked for the PS4. The controls are just so unique for the PS Vita, and the level of immersion is unreal. It was about the same feeling I had when I touched a Nintendo 3DS for the first time and played through its Augmented Reality experience. However, I’m sure that this company would come up with some creative way to make it work.
